The DTMROC-tester (version 3) has three different operating modes:

Stand-alone
chip-tester
MODE 0
This mode is used when testing whether or not a chip (daughter-board) works.
This mode is know as 'Service Mode' because this is the mode used during detector service or testing of new chips/boards at the assembly place.
Only reduced measurement/logging capabilities
VME module
MODE 1
This mode is used as a high-performance chip-tester and can perform any desirable test on the DTMROC.
This mode is known as 'Performance Mode' because this mode measures the performance of the DTMROC.
Full functionality!
Serial controller
MODE 2
This mode is a compromize between the other two;
Most tests of MODE 1 can be performed, but because of the lower bandwidth of the serial communication, the logging is reduced.
This mode is known as 'PC Mode'.


The software consists of 4 different parts:

Assembler code for the on-board CPU (PIC17C756), source-code
ABEL-code for the programmable chips (ispLSI1048E, ispLSI1032), program
Communication program for a PC (Windows95/98), executables
  source-code
LabView program for controlling the tester through a
VME/PC controller (Windows95/98).
Requires PC/VME interface board.
