The interface to the temperature sensors DS1820 is an adapter that must be connected to one of the COM ports on the PC. The COM port that is used must be set up in the configuration of the program before the sensors can be accessed. This setup is done through the configuration dialog within the program.

There are two main windows, a graphical version, and a non-graphical. Switching between them is done in the menu 'Show' item 'Layout'.
The graphical display is divided into two parts, one part show the layout of the boards and the sensors, the second part is a graph of the history of the most recent temperature readings. The non-graphical version consists of the history graphs, and a list of sensors shown in the graphs.

The temperature readings are in centigrades.


For each sensor is a chip name, and the current temperature written. The colour of a sensor is temperature coded, blue means a low temperature, red a high temperature. The scale is set by the selected limits of history graph temperature axis.
The colour of the text is the colour as used in the history graph described below.

The status of a sensor can be changed be clicking with left mouse button within the sensor square. This brings up a dialog:

Name Chip reference number
Serial Number The serial number of the physical sensor placed at this location. Used to address the sensor. The attached sensor can be selected from the list of sensors connected to the 1-wire interface
Active TRUE - Read the sensor
FALSE - Do not read the sensor
Display TRUE - The temperature is plotted in the history graph
FALSE - The temperature is not plotted in the history graph
Colour The colour for this sensor in the history graph and for the text.

The normal display has four graphs, each graph representing one side of a roof board.
The graphs show the temperature history during a time period where the bin size can be set through the configuration dialog. The left most values are lost when the history buffer overflows.
The time written on the x-axis is HH:MM.SS, which gives the time since the run was started.

HH = Hours, MM = Minutes, and SS Seconds

The scale of the temperature axis can be set through the configuration dialog.
The scroll bar on the temperature axis have two sliders, these indicates the interval displayed of the total possible interval (-55 to 125 centigrades). Moving the sliders will change the displayed interval.
In playback mode there is a scroll bar on the time axis as well.
The interval displayed can be changed by moving the slider.

Graph select By clicking with the right mouse button inside a graph brings up a dialog.
In this dialog is it possible to choose which sensors on this roof board to display in this window.
The Zoom check box allows one to have this graph to use the full history display area.

Logfile format

The logfile is an ASCII-file with one line for each reading, one value for each sensor. There are in total 70 sensors, each sensor takes 6 bytes, i.e. the file will increase with (420 + header) bytes for each reading (as given by the Update field in the configuration dialog).
The logfile format can easily be imported into programs like Excel or Access to generate plots.
