20201018 ======== We have discussed how to turn off some chips. One idea is to set the number of time slices to sample to 0 for some chips, and 135 to other chips. This should show how the memory write (and other actions?) will affect the problem seen: sometimes good and sometimes there is a bump and clock noise. Could depend on the number of chips working on the memory. It has previuosly been a "mistake" or "feature" (forgotten) with how the chips have had the number of samples set at the beginning after a global reset/power on: After a reset is the default number of time slices 0, and then the program has set only the chip(s) being readout to have the correct number of time slices. The case when only one chip was read per run and no reset was done between runs: First one chip had the correct number, then two, then three, etc until all seven had been used. With all chips in the run were all chips initialized with the correct number of time slices. In these runs all chips are initilized according to the text below. Current limit was rised from 4.0 to 4.5A to see if this limit could cause a problem. Conclusions: As can be seen is the bump getting larger as the number of chips accessing the memory increase. None with one chip, highest with all eight chips. The problem that there is sometimes no bump/clock noise and somtimes there is, can be explained by how many chips are accessing the memory. The rise from 4.0 to 4.5A of the current limit had no effect.
