Position Deadline Description
Associate Senior Lecturer August 22, 2016 An Associate Senior University Lecturer in Physics, especially Experimental Particle Physics, limit of tenure (4 years). The work tasks are primarily research and teaching on basic and graduate levels. The successful candidate will participate and contribute to the research in particle physics, especially dark matter related data analysis together with the rest of the Lund-ATLAS team. A participation in the Lund contributions to the ATLAS upgrade, to meet the future extreme beam intensities, is also possible. He/she will in addition to the research at the LHC, prepare for next generation of dark matter related experiments, e.g. for direct or indirect observations, if possible also through technical development for future detectors with these purposes. For details, see the announcement.

Old announcements

PhD Student May 31, 2016 A 4-years PhD Student position with the ALICE group. The successful candidate will work on analysis of ALICE data, in particular of the central barrel with the main tracking detector, the Time Projection Chamber (TPC), and calorimeters (EMCal/DCal). Current group research interests include the study and analysis of collective flow, correlations, identified particle spectra and the production of photons and jets in heavy-ion collisions. Additionally, some activities connected to R&D for future experiments and/or upgrades of ALICE, could be included. The successful candidate would have the possibility to help with supervising Master and Bachelor students. The activities are located at the Department of Physics at Lund University. However, frequent visits to CERN will be required, and also some long term stationing there could be necessary. For details, see the announcement.
Postdoc March 1, 2016 A 2-year post-doctoral position in experimental particle physics with the Lund ATLAS group. The selected candidate is expected to contribute to new physics searches for particles with medium masses with respect to the LHC mass-reach, through the analysis of data in multi-jet signatures and in boosted topologies. The selected candidate will work on the improvement of the event selection techniques and the performance of the physics objects used in the search. The candidate is expected to take a leading role in physics analysis, as well as to make a substantial contribution to the performance of jets and the trigger system of the ATLAS experiment. The selected candidate will actively participate in the supervision of PhD students. The research activities are located at the Department of Physics at Lund University. Frequent visits and long-term stationing to CERN will be required. For details, see the announcement.
PhD Student February 7, 2016 A 4-years PhD Student position with the ATLAS group. The successful candidate will work on analysis of ATLAS data, in particular on the search of new particles that decay in quarks and gluons. In the case of positive signals the candidate will help identify the origins of the new particles, and possible connection to e.g. Dark Matter, and if fully consistent with the Standard Model, to demonstrate which suggested theories that can be excluded. The work on improving the selection techniques and the performance of the physics objects used in the search will be an important part of the PhD research. Additionally, some activities connected to R&D for future experiments and/or upgrades of ATLAS, could be included. The successful candidate would have the possibility to help with supervising Master students. The activities are located at the Department of Physics at Lund University. However, frequent visits to CERN will be required, and also some long term stationing there could be required. For details, see the announcement.
PhD Student November 2, 2015 A 4-years PhD Student position with the ATLAS group. The successful candidate will work with analysis of ATLAS data, in particular with lepton production at the highest energies. In the case of positive signals to identify their origins, and possible connection to some of the unanswered questions, and if fully consistent with the Standard Model, to demonstrate which suggested theories that can be excluded. The activities are located at the Department of Physics at Lund University. However, frequent visits to CERN will be required. The successful candidate would have the possibility to help with supervising Master's and Bachelor's students. For details, see the announcement.
PhD Student February 28, 2015 A 4-years PhD Student position with the ATLAS group. The successful candidate will work on analysis of ATLAS data, in particular the highest energies manifested with jet-production. In the case of positive signals to identify their origins, and possible connection to e.g. Dark Matter, and if fully consistent with the Standard Model, to demonstrate which suggested theories that can be excluded. Additionally, some activities connected to R&D for future experiments and/or upgrades of ATLAS, could be included. The successful candidate would have the possibility to help with supervising Master students. The activities are located at the Department of Physics at Lund University. However, frequent visits to CERN will be required, and also some long term stationing there. For details, see the announcement.
Postdoc June 30, 2012 A 2-year post-doctoral position in experimental particle physics with the Lund ATLAS group. The successful candidate will share her/his time between analysis of ATLAS data, preferentially in the context of other analysis activities in the group, and preparatory work for the upgrade of the ATLAS Inner Detector. In addition, the successful candidate would have the possibility to gain experience in mentoring PhD-students and to supervise Master students. For details, see the announcement.
Postdoc May 27, 2011 A 2-year post-doctoral position in experimental Heavy Ion Physics with ALICE at the LHC, with location in Lund, to be filled as soon as possible. Application procedure is fully electronic. For details, see the announcement.
PhD Student August 2, 2010 The position is dedicated to physics studies at LHC. The PhD student will join the Lund group involved in the ATLAS experiment and work on a project on searches for beyond standard model physics in the first years of data from the LHC. For details, see the announcement.
Project Assistant October 7, 2009 Two 6-months positions for Early Stage Researchers (ESR) to perform supervised research in High Energy Physics. Possible areas are experimental or phenomenological research related to physics at the energy frontier ATLAS at the CERN LHC, heavy ion collisions ALICE at the CERN LHC or PHENIX at the Brookhaven RHIC, future electron-positron colliders, grid computing, or related areas. For details, see the announcement.
Postgraduate studentship September 7, 2009 Postgraduate studies in Experimental High Energy Physics, Nuclear Physics, Synchrotron Radiation Research or Theoretical Solid State Physics. For details, see the announcement.
Postdoc August 31, 2009 The ATLAS group of the Experimental High Energy Physics Division at Lund University is announcing a 2-year stipend for a post-doctoral researcher starting in November 2009. Details are available in the announcement.
