Mails

The main communication link from THOR to the shifter is through mails. All processes that need action from the shifter generate a mail, which contains information about the tasks to do. Some mails are also pure mails of information about the status of THOR and which tasks that have been performed. Here follows a list of the various mails that are sent to the shifter.

Backing Up Data

Sent when THOR starts the backup of the data on the tape inserted in the exabyte station.(No action)

Data Cleaning

Sent when THOR starts to Clean away the data backed up.(No Action)

Cleaned Data

Sent when THOR has cleaned away all the data that have been backed up. The shifter should then take name the backup tape and check the cleaning procedure for errors.

Data-files

The backup-list of the data files that was backed up by THOR.(Check it)

Bacman Log

The log file from Bacman, showing information about the cleaning procedure.(Check it)

Backing up X

Sent when THOR starts the backup of one of the VSAT disks.(No Action)

Cleaning of X

Sent when THOR has made a backup of a disk. The shifter should then inform VSAT people about the cleaning of this disk and name the tape.

X-Dirtree

The directory tree of the disk that has been backed up.(Forward to VSAT people)

X-Permanent

The permanent protection file of the disk that has been backed up.(Forward to VSAT people)

Cleaning X

Sent when THOR starts to clean the disk specified.(No Action)

Backup X

Sent when a disk is 95% full. Shifter should insert name and give the proper backup time in the file Backup-disk.txt.

10 New Fills

Sent when THOR has processed 5 new fills with VSDIAG. The shifter should check the data quality by executing ``check'' from Paw.

Data Backup

Sent when the processed data size is above the size of an exabyte tape(3.6 Mega blocks). Shifter should insert an empty tape in the exabyte station and copy Backup-disk.txt from the output directory to the input directory.

Termination

Sent when THOR self terminate due to big log file.(no action)

This is a small log file of the most important tasks performed by THOR.(Check it)

Reincarnation

Sent when THOR starts again.(no action)
