The agenda was approved.

Bo Sundborg was appointed as secretary and Sten Hellman agreed to verify the minutes.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved.

§2

Three vacant posts were filled: Deputy Chair, Måns Henningson; Treasurer, Leif Lönnblad and Secretary, Bo Sundborg.

§3

The chapter has been asked to consider Swedish representation in a working group to study the future organisation of high energy physics in Europe.

1) The board members decided to each find out in their respective groups about suggestions for a Swedish representative, and to continue the discussion by e-mail until the next board meeting. Whoever proposes a candidate should also have made sure that the candidate is prepared to accept the appointment. Two criteria were discussed: The representative ought to be active in the field during the period of the discussions in the group, and be known in the other Nordic countries as well as be likely to get their support.

2) The board members also check with their respective groups about opinions on how the representative should be kept informed about our opinions, and how we can get information from the working group.

§4

Sten Hellman reported on replies. He hoped to have received all replies and to have processed them towards the end of the summer.

§5

Sten Hellman was assigned the task of writing an NFR application for three years to cover our delegates travel to ECFA, RECFA and ACCU.

§6

It was discussed how to increase the membership of the section, and how the activities of the section could be made more relevant to theoreticians.

§7

The time of the next telephone meeting was fixed to Monday May 8, 2000, at 13.30.
