Wish & Sackman

If the desire arise to restore some files, THOR provides some programs for this as well. First a small program called Wish.com should be run to generate a list of files to mark for backup. To do this a backup tape and its corresponding backup-list file must be chosen. The name of the file is given as a parameter(without the directory path), and when Wish.com is run it creates an output file called Sack.txt in the output directory.

Once Sack.txt has been created, the files that should be restored simply are marked with an x or an other letter. When the marking is finished the tape corresponding to the backup list should be inserted in the exabyte station. When Sack.txt then is moved to the input directory, THOR automatically restores the files with the program Sackman.com

Sackman.com is essentially the same program as Bacman.com, but instead of removing all files that are not marked it copies the files that are marked. If a file is marked with an x the file is copied to its original location, otherwise it ends up on the scratch area. If a subdirectory is marked all of its files will be restored to their original location. The program can be executed outside THOR if the variable ``DISKNAME'' is specified to the disk to which the files shall be restored.
