Backup, Cleanup and Restore Files

Whenever a backup should be made on a disk, the file Backup-disk.txt should be created in the input directory. The first line of this file should contain the name of the backup-list file(the same as the tape name). The second line should contain the name of the disk that should be backed up. A backup is then automatically made on the empty non write protected tape in the exabyte station.

If the file Clean-disk.txt exists in the input directory THOR starts Bacman which starts to clean the disk. The first line of this file should contain the diskname, the second the name of the protection file and the third line should contain the name of the permanent protection file. The protection files are automatically created by THOR when a backup is made and are written in the input directory.

If it is necessary to create a protection file manually the program Genx.exe should be run in the program directory. Before this is done the name of the backuplist file of the tape that is to be used for the cleaning, should be assigned to the logical name ``for010''. The name of the output protection file should be defined in the logical name 'for011'. The permanent protection file is edited simply by adding the names of files that are to be protected after the 'zzzz' mark. The program Ghost then sorts this file and inserts the names at their proper places.
