In the very beginning Spartak had little advantage. Then Alania looked a little bit better for a while. They scored first. It was about 17 minutes after the game began. It was a corner near Spartak's goal. An Alania player crossed the ball. The ball was flying above all the players who were in the penalty area and no one touched it. Actually only Nikiforov could do it without an effort. But he just looked at the ball. Meantime Alania's defender Pagayev come running behind Nikiforov and shot. Nor Filimonov neither even Tikhonov (some fans joked he could save the goal only when Cherchessov is the goalkeeper: remember home game against Legia, for example) could do anything. So, 0:1. Then Spartak started to attack. First time Evseyev played excellently. He got around some defenders in the penalty area and then passed back to Nikiforov. Now I can't say exactly how close to the goal he was but I think it was about 3-5 metters. So Nikiforov just put his foot - 1:1. In a couple minutes Kechinov was one on one with Khapov but shot right to his hands. Then Spartak had a corner. Tsymbalar and Kechinov were great !!! It was like the second goal during the last game against Ireland. Ilya played like Mostovoy: he got around a defender and passed back to Kechinov. He shot to the lower corner of the goal. Khapov almost cought the ball but... 2:1. Then Kechinov again was one on one with Khapov and that time he scored. 3:1. A minute before the break during the counterattack Tsymbalar got the ball in the center of Alania's half of the field, ran 10-15 metters and shot - 4:1. In the second half Alania attacked more but I wouldn't say they had more chances to score than Spartak. Anyway the result didn't change. Nikiforov played on the position he played against Nantes. To be objective, I should mention that Alania played without some key players. Although it was not the best Spartak's game (even this season), Spartak proved that they are really one of the best Russian teams.
