In spite of the score (0:0) the game was very interesting. In the beginning Spartak looked much better. For about ten minutes the ball was mostly on the CSKA's half of the field. Spartak midfield players were better than the CSKA ones. But all Spartak's attacks were stopped in the middle of the penalty area. Although it seemed they were about scoring, actually they didn't have a good scoring chance. Once Tsymbalar after taking the corner feinted three defenders and I think if he passed somebody the score wouldn't be 0:0... But he decided to score the splendid goal from the very small angle and the ball passed by the goalpost. All CSKA did for that time was some shots from very far. But then Spartak midfielders began to make mistakes. CSKA attacked more often but they also didn't have a good chance till 21 minute. Then Radimov was knocked down near the box and the ref awarded the indirect free kick. After taking it CSKA players twice shot on the crossbar. Spartak defenders and Filimonov were perplexed and they can hardly prevent CSKA forwards from scoring at that moment. After that moment for about 15 minutes CSKA looked as a very good team. But Spartak also had a chance when Tikhonov passed through the CSKA defence on the left flank of the box and passed back to Kechinov. It was about two meters from the goal and sure Kechinov would score but a CSKA defender was a little bit swifter. But he was about autogoal... I wouldn't say CSKA was better in the first half but they had more scoring chances. A couple of times they just had ill luck. In the break Melyoshin substituted Alenichev. All the second half was like those first minutes of the first half... Spartak attacked a lot. They had some corners and Gorlukovich tried to head the ball but it was useless. Suddenly Nikiforov felt like feinting and a couple of times he got the ball somewhere near the center circle, ran past some rivals, got in the box but unfortunately he is not Maradona... In the beginning of the second half CSKA could do nothing at all. But Pyatnitsky (although generally he played quite well) made mistakes and Spartak's attacks weren't very dangerous. After another substitution (Titov for Pyatnitsky) Spartak attacks became more dangerous. Titov, who is (it's my opinion) one of most capable Spartak young players, played very good. Once his unexpected pass ("v razrez" between two defenders) to Kechinov made all the Spartak fans stand up but Kechinov managed to do nothing against Tyapushkin (who is CSKA goalie now). Titov made some other chances but the score didn't change. Yartsev substituted of Kechinov for Djubanov but he couldn't repeat the Kamaz's feat. CSKA also had a couple scoring chances but not so dangerous. They also could score a minute before the end but failed.
