DELPHI [1] is one of the four experiments connected to the LEP(fig. 1.1) ring at CERN. It consists of 22 different detectors with a common event read out. This report will mainly concentrate on a detector called VSAT at the very forward direction of the detector region. This chapter gives a short general description of the DELPHI detector and a more extended description of the VSAT specific parts.
