Although two photon physics is the main purpose for the VSAT in the LEP II environment, the background and luminosity studies are still vital part of the analysis. This comes from the fact that the few gamma-gamma events that is detected by the VSAT is totally flooded by background from single electron and bhabha events. It is therefore crucial to have very good understanding of these processes, before any two photon physics analysis can begin.
