Department accounts are the so-called LUCAS accounts. A LUCAS account gives access to:

• ownCloud cloud service (laptop backup and filesharing)
• Indico conference management service
• GRUB

Backup of laptops is done via the ownCloud cloud service.

A LUCAS account is required to be able to access ownCloud.

Then you need to install the ownCloud desktop app in order to access the service, it can be downloaded here: https://owncloud.com/desktop-app/

If your laptop was installed by me then the app should be already installed.

Backup of servers is currently based on an old infrastructure whose future is not yet clear and under discussion at department level, hence we currently have limited capacity and serving mainly the already existing servers. If you wish to join the discussion for backups within Fysikum, please contact Florido Paganelli.
