Abstract:
The LEP machine background and noise in the DELPHI calorimeters have been
studied in four independent analyses.
The main purpose of this work is to estimate
the probability of a shower from these sources
in coincidence with a genuine
physics event and to see how best to reject this type of background.
Both the 1998 and the 1999 high energy data have been used in this study.
